Linux System Administrator / DevOps Engineer

A UK-based digital marketing group is hiring in Moldova. We are a global organization of 600 with 50+ people located in Moldova - looking to strengthen our local presence by bringing aboard more talented and ambitious individuals.
For this particular role, we are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Linux System Administrator or DevOps Engineer to manage, optimize, and maintain our web servers and application infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in server configuration, monitoring, automation, and troubleshooting, as well as strong knowledge of PHP, Laravel, Docker, and modern development practices.

You'd be working as part of a strong team, in out of our centrally-located renovated office in Chisinau, with full working conditions such as workspace, free lunch and snacks and in an overall positive and helpful environment.

Responsibilities:
1. Server Management:
- Configure, manage and optimize web servers using **NGINX** and **PHP**.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of web applications.
- Troubleshoot server-related issues and perform root cause analysis.
2. Automation & Monitoring:
- Automate routine server tasks using **Ansible**, **Bash**, **Python**, or other tools.
- Set up and manage uptime and performance monitoring tools like **Prometheus**, **Grafana**, **Zabbix**, or **Pingdom**.
- Implement logging and alerting systems using tools like **ELK Stack** or **Graylog**.
3. Application Management:
- Deploy, maintain, and optimize applications developed with **Laravel**, **PHP**, and **JavaScript**.
- Work with **Docker** containers to streamline development and deployment.
- Set up CI/CD pipelines using **Git**, **Bitbucket Pipelines**, or similar tools.
4. Database Administration:
- Manage and optimize **MySQL**, **PostgreSQL**, or other relational databases.
- Ensure database backups, high availability, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve application issues.
- Provide server-related guidance and mentorship to the development team.

Technical Skills:
1. Server Management:
- Expertise with **Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.)** system administration.
- Advanced knowledge of **NGINX** and **PHP-FPM** configuration and optimization.2. 2. Automation & Monitoring:
- Proficiency in scripting languages like **Bash**, **Python**, or similar.
- Experience with tools like **Ansible**, **Terraform**, or **Chef**.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as **Prometheus**, **Grafana**, or **New Relic**.
2. Development Support:
- Experience with **Laravel**, **PHP**, and **JavaScript (Datatables, Vue, etc.)**.
- Knowledge of **Docker** containerization and orchestration tools like **Kubernetes** (bonus).
- Familiarity with **Git** and version control workflows.4. **Database Management:**
- Strong skills in **MySQL**, **PostgreSQL**, or similar databases.
- Ability to optimize and troubleshoot database performance. **Security & Optimization:**
- Proficient in implementing secure server configurations.
- Knowledge of SSL/TLS, firewalls, and vulnerability management.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
- Experience with **Kubernetes** or container orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with **AWS**, **Google Cloud**, or **Azure** for cloud-based deployments.
- Knowledge of **Redis**, **Memcached**, or other caching mechanisms.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery planning.
